Through his photographs and writings, Wright Morris – one of America’s most admired novelists, captured the tone and tenor of America’s heartland in the mid-20th century. This exhibition is a selection of Morris’s most beloved photographs, many from his books, The Home Place and The Inhabitants, that display a deep regard for the land and people of the artist’s childhood. Morris, a Nebraska native, was born in Central City, a town he often fictionalized as Lone Tree in his writings.
