Robert Therien

Robert Therien was born on October 1, 1944 in Omaha, Nebraska. He received his BA from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota in 1966, his MA from the University of Wisconsin in 1968, and his MFA in 1969 from the University of Wisconsin as well. Therien served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1973 and became Associate Professor of Art at Midland Luthern College after his honorable discharge. From 1990, he is Professor of Art at Midland Lutheran Collesge, Fremont, Nebraska. Therien has recently been working on enlarged floral watercolors—“Most of my paintings deal with isolated water and floral situations-lily pads, ferns, flowers, shadows, and reflections. I am a traditional realist who employs solid form, rendering and, generally, high contrast play of light and dark areas.”
