April 8 – May 4, 2008 —
During four weeks in spring, the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA) is bursting with artwork created by the next generation of artists. Budding artists in the Kearney Public Schools, Kearney Catholic High School, and the school districts in Buffalo County and Kearney County show their work, selected by their art teachers, in MONA’s grand East Gallery. The four exhibitions, each on view for one week, showcase different schools and their students:

Each of the 1,300 exhibiting students is presented with a certificate to commemorate his or her selection. The Museum hosts five receptions where the art specialists, the exhibiting students, their families and friends together with school administrators celebrate the achievements of these artistically gifted young people. The MONA Guild’s Education Committee assists with hosting the over 1,200 people who attend the receptions.
The Student Art Show is supported in part by the Kearney Hub, which joins MONA in congratulating the students and offering encouragement of their artistic talents.
