Alice Cleaver was one of Nebraska’s talented and well-trained early women artists. An 1895 graduate of the University of Nebraska, Cleaver pursued further training at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, studying with William Merritt Chase and Cecilia Beaux. During World War I, Cleaver returned to her home town of Falls City, Nebraska where she continued to paint and exhibit, garnering several honors. This exhibition is comprised of works from MONA’s collection and those on loan from the Library and Community Foundation of Richardson County, Nebraska.
