Peter Walkley was born in Orange, Texas on October 29, 1952. He attended the Omaha Art School in 1972 and currently works in the Marketing Department as a designer of the Omaha World Herald. Walkley describes himself as “a self taught painter working with acrylics in a precise realism, occasionally tinged with subtle surrealism.” He has many works in private and public collections throughout Nebraska, Virginia, and New York.
Without obvious physical or cultural landmarks, the appeal of the Midwest is easily missed. I feel my challenge, as a Nebraska realist, is to find the beauty and mystery in the everyday, the tensions beneath the serene, while avoiding false sentiment or cliche.”
