1963, Omaha, Nebraska –
Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Joe Broghammer earned his B.F.A. degree in 1986 from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, followed by graduate work at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He has exhibited his work in more than 40 group shows and has also had solo exhibitions throughout the Midwest. He received the Best of Show in the Visual Arts at the Omaha Entertainment and Art Awards Ceremony in December 2006.
Working in pastel, he writes, “My intent is to push the medium to the point where it takes on an expressive, painterly quality. In paint, you can be explosive. The medium is wet and can be textured, but drawing with pastels is a controlled, dry medium. I’m working to create dry paintings.”
Broghammer lives in Omaha where he is active in the art scene.
