Afro Psalms
This series of paintings and drawings portrays the day-to-day lives of African Americans in the first half of the 1900s. The empathetic images, created by artist Grant Reynard (1887-1968), are given context by the historic recollections of the accompanying poetry by Charles Fort. Through the artwork and the sonnet redoublé inspired by it, the viewer may better understand the lives of African Americans in the early twentieth century.
AgriCulture
A selection of artworks depicting Nebraska’s rich agricultural heritage, this exhibition includes pieces by Aaron Pyle, Kady Faulkner, Ernest Ochsner, and Charlotte Ingram, among others.
The Changing Landscape
This exhibition features interpretations of Nebraska’s landscapes by some of the state’s most prolific and noted artists. Each work brings varying impressions of the land that, throughout history and even to this day, has been perceived by many as a “wasteland.” The show celebrates Nebraska’s geography and depicts the interesting visual variety and complexities that exist within it.
Contemporary Artworks from the MONA Collection
Today’s Nebraska artists are known regionally, nationally, and even internationally. This exhibition features works by living Nebraska artists who live, work, and thrive beyond the boundaries of Nebraska.
East to West – ANAC’s Best
Each year, the Association of Nebraska Art Clubs invites MONA to select an artwork to receive the respected Purchase Award from its annual art show, and the chosen piece becomes part of the Museum’s collection. This practice has continued for over twenty years, and East to West – ANAC’s Best features selections from this rich tradition.
Falter Illustrated
The pieces in this exhibition focus on the prolific career of John P. Falter (1910-1982), one of the most famous Nebraska illustrators. The show features posters designed for the United States Government, lithographs of jazz greats, original covers from The Saturday Evening Post, sketches for a number of books, and grand history paintings.
Grant Reynard & World War II: Images from the Home Front
This multi-themed exhibition showcases a series of original illustrations and related commentaries produced by Grant Reynard (1887-1968) for his column Inside Manhattan, published in the New York newspaper P.M. The show also features several photographs, provided by Union Pacific, that capture scenes from the North Platte Canteen. Taken together, this nostalgic collection provides a compelling glimpse of American life during one of the most dramatic eras in United States history.

Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales
Featuring selections from MONA’s impressive collection of animal imagery, expect to meet some of our favorite household pets – and to explore the wilder side of MONA’s menagerie.
Wright Morris Photographs
Regarded as one of America’s most important modern writers, Wright Morris is also recognized for his documentary photographs of structures and artifacts often associated with the Great Depression. This exhibition features images taken from 1934 to 1954, many of which accompanied his written word.
Way to Go
Focusing on the themes of travel and transportation, the artworks in this exhibition are displayed in tandem with quotes, song lyrics, and essays exploring the role that travel has played historically, and emotionally, in our lives.
Women Artists from the MONA Collection
This exhibition offers a compelling depiction of the historical role of women in shaping the visual culture of Nebraska, and too, the shaping of Nebraska’s official visual art collection. Artworks range from the late 19th century to the present, and include a variety of media from paintings and sculpture to prints and fiber, portraying a variety of subjects.
