This presentation by Steve Tamayo, a member of the Sicangu Lakota tribe, will explain the Dentaluim Shell adornment of the Plains Region. Commonly used by Native American artists and anthropologists, these tooth or tusk shells were and are used in indigenous jewelry and adornment. The Lakota People have been making adornments out of shells from the West Coast since the mid-1800s.

Meet outside the Museum to paint the scenery of Downtown Kearney, weather permitting. For anyone interested in exploring plein air painting. Some painting experience will be helpful.

If you have watercolor supplies, please bring them with you. Suggested supplies are:
- 140lb watercolor paper 9×12 at minimum
- At least 3 brushes – the larger the better
- Watercolor paints – whatever you have
- Sun hat
ARTisTRY-MIXED MEDIA COLLAGE WORKSHOP with Marcia Bauerle

This class explores acrylic collage with emphasis on composition, quality of application, and creative freedom. Practice your understanding of the elements and principles of art and how they affect the aesthetics of composition. Using prompts, ephemera, and our own artwork, you will create postcard-size collages. Various techniques for creating special papers and collage elements will be offered. Wear painty clothes and be ready for magic!
All supplies provided; however, please feel free to bring photocopies of favorite pictures, pieces of old paintings, ribbons, receipts, and other ephemera, favorite paints, brushes, substrates as desired.
