On the Beat – John Philip Falter’s Jazz From Life

John Philip Falter (1910-1982) had a lifelong love for jazz music. In the early 1970s, Falter began attending live jazz sessions taking a portable studio with him to create “lightning sketches while the musicians were performing or during rest periods.” The original sketches were reproduced in a limited number of print portfolios titled Jazz from Life.

Riverside Country Club – Selections from the MONA Collection

Just as the landscape of Nebraska varies from north to south, and east to west, this selection of work from the Museum of Nebraska Art collection is an example that same diversity. From Allan Tubach’s Reflection in York to Tom Talbot’s Hong Kong Side Street we experience a variety of scenes from near and far.

Homesteading in our Modern Lives
Ongoing

Some art seems so inviting to touch, almost daring viewers to experience it with their fingertips as well as with their eyes. Textures invite the viewer to participate, or imagine participating, with the artwork beyond simply seeing. An artist may create texture through their choice of, or manipulation of, materials; or the illusion of it may be simulated by design. This exhibition showcases mixed media artworks and collages by seven Nebraska artists interested in exploring texture as a key element of these finished works.
