About:
Embrace your artistic side with Rowe Sanctuary and the Museum of Nebraska Art (MONA)! Join us for a study in the junction between art and nature in a variety of media with wonderful guest instructors.
Experience the wonder of crane season along the Platte River with this engaging plein air watercolor painting class. Whether painting outdoors amidst the sights and sounds of nature or indoors with panoramic views from the Iain Nicolson Audubon Center, you’ll have the opportunity to bring the beauty of this iconic season to life. This class welcomes artists of all skill levels! This workshop will use the method of plein air painting here at Rowe Sanctuary. Plein air painting is the act of painting outdoors, with the French term meaning “in the open air”. It is a practice where artists paint directly from their subject in natural light, rather than from a studio reference. This method emphasizes capturing the immediate and changing effects of natural light and atmosphere on a scene.
