Artist Biography
Perhaps best known for her 35-year tenure as the Gering High School art teacher, artist Gretchen Peters dedicated a majority of her career to fostering artistic talent amongst the youth in Gering, Nebraska. In addition to teaching, Peters has volunteered countless hours as a board member in service of cultural organizations across the state, such as Humanities Nebraska, West Nebraska Arts Center, Nebraska Arts Council, Nebraska State Historical Society, and the Advisory Board for the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
Her keen eye for draftsmanship and sensitivity for capturing naturalistic light and color in her own work garnered the attention of art centers and galleries across the state, providing her with an ample network to showcase her work. Her Prismacolor drawing, Aletia’s Summer, demonstrates her command of her medium, layering color to create a sense of depth and captured action.
