Artist Biography

Photographer Dana Damewood was born in Wahoo, Nebraska in 1978. At age 16, she discovered a love for photography and later pursued a BFA in Photography at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Her art practice spans multiple processes and mediums, including film and digital work. Working in both commercial and fine art spaces, she has been published in Cosmopolitan, Culture, and The Wall Street Journal. This photograph is part of a larger series set in the artist’s hometown of Wahoo, Nebraska. Using a vintage Rolleiflex camera, Damewood captured scenes from her grandmother’s home, where she spent significant time growing up, and other locations around the town. The subject of this particular photograph is the Saunders County Fair, held in August each year at the Wahoo fairgrounds, just as the sun begins to set and the lights of the attractions illuminate the scene.
