for Kids:Learn about color, texture, and shape while you express your creativity! Have fun exploring
various mediums and assemble the craziest cow you can imagine!

Nebraska’s most famous artist, Robert Henri, enjoyed creating plein aire paintings on
small, wooden panels called pochades. Step back in time and create your own mini
masterpiece while enjoying the outdoors and birthday cupcakes in honor of Robert
Henri’s birthday.

If you are an aspiring artist interested in improving your drawing skills, this class
is for you! Chris Dolan gives instruction on composition and how to successfully incorporate
value, texture, and depth into your drawings. This class will help you gain the
techniques that are necessary to create great art.

Put your imagination into high gear to create an abstract sculpture inspired by glass
artist, Dale Chihuly. Use heated, transparent, polyester film to cut and manipulate
into your own unique creation. You will be amazed at the finished project.

BE A PART OF THE DOCENT TEAM
MONA’s Docent team is an essential part of the Museum’s education program, and performs
an important and far-reaching function: introducing and deepening the experience of the
exhibitions for tour groups of all ages. As a Docent, you also benefit through special
trainings and lectures by artists, art professionals, and community leaders; opportunities
to be involved with special educational projects; and expanding your understanding of art.
Being a Docent increases involvement with the University and the community, and promotes
academic excellence through the arts.

Use your big imagination to create small, unique boxes from mat board and beautiful papers. These miniature works of art have a little drawer to store your favorite trinkets and an accordion-style top for added visual interest. These tiny treasures are so tremendous you may want two!
Dates: Saturday: July 13Explore color theory and shape while creating a one-of-a-kind abstract collage. Assemble a unique work of art by using copies of images from MONA’s permanent collection and hand-made, dyed papers. Fuel your creativity with coffee and cookies.
Dates: August 3Learn the secrets to creating beautiful landscapes using soft pastel chalks. Artist Virginia Wattles shares her knowledge on value, color, composition, and editing to help you create a masterful work of art. Don't miss the unique opportunity to experience this versatile, fun, and forgiving medium! All skill levels are welcome. A supply list will be provided.
